Plants
One of the valued products from food systems are plants. Understanding each species
of plant grown on your urban farm is vital to the success of your project. Plants not
only serve as the valued product but also as medicine, animal fodder, nutrient
collectors and soil managers. As an urban farmer it is important to have some general
horticultural knowledge of anatomy, reproduction and growth needs. Market
research and climate conditions will guide you in choosing what to grow. Stacking
your harvests in space and time will influence the layout of the agricultural location.
