Carnival is a holiday on the same days as Good Friday and Easter. There are two parades during this holiday called Desfile de Carnival and Desfile de Llamadas. The holiday Jura de la Constitucion is on July 18 th. It is the day they adopted their first constitution and became separate from Spain.

A typical Uruguayan food is Asado. It is like a barbeque with different types of meat over an open fire. It is popular like barbeque is in America. Arroz con leche is a desert much like American rice pudding. Milanesa is a breaded meat dish it is similar to schnitzel. The chivito is a sandwich dish made with a slice of filet mignon, mozzarella, tomatoes, bacon, ham and served with fries.
