In historical process, migration was always a feature of this area. After the declaration of Tur k ish R epublic, area received migration from Greece, Bulgaria and Crete. Population exchanges bet ween Greece and Turkey triggered inhabitants to settle this region. Newcomers of the city placed to this area by government. I t s c l o s e n e s s t o t h e c i t y c e n t e r, fe r tile quality of earth, farmlands and tawdries were economic advantage s o f t h e s i t e . A f t e r 1 9 5 0 ’s w i t h t h e political strategies of government, migration from easter n par ts of Turkey to the western cities increased. With this move, Ballıkuyu and Kadifekale started to receive migration from mostly easter n par ts of Turkey.
