UPUMC LIFE
A PUBLICATION OF UNIVERSITY PARK UNITED METHODIST CHURCH
Saturday, May 17, 2014
On Saturday, May 17, Methodist churches
from across the North Texas Conference
will converge to serve with our neighbors
in the South Dallas ZIP code 75215, one of
the regions of our Conference experiencing
the most extreme asset poverty. The North
Texas Conference will partner with mission
organizations such as CitySquare, Crossroads
Community Services, and Dallas Bethlehem
Center to serve alongside our neighbors on
Change the World Day 2014.
Using this opportunity, UPUMC will continue
to develop our strong relationship with Dallas
Bethlehem Center. Our goal is to send 70
people to DBC to work on several projects

including preparing gifts bags for Women’s
Empowerment Luncheon, distributing
information about DBC, and cleaning up the
vacant lot off Hatcher Street. They also need
volunteers to garden, paint and help organize
storage areas. Youth (over 10 years) are invited
to participate as well! After volunteering, lunch
will be served at FUMC, followed by focus
groups, and a celebration of service.
We will meet at UPUMC and carpool to
Dallas Bethlehem Center at 7:30 a.m. Sign
up at the Connection Center for the job that
most interests you. For more information, a
complete schedule (see page 5), or to register,
