known in the industry for taking a song and flipping it into something totally different. It worked because people are always looking for something fresh. Where do you see yourself in five year? In five years, I see myself with a position at a major label not just as a producer but as a consultant. In this industry music is only a small portion; there are a lot of things that get overlooked that are very important. Would you tell an artist the truth? I have been known for being blunt. I know that artists are very sensitive and at the end of the day, you want everyone to like your stuff. I have always been told to be neutral but I speak my mind. I don't just say why I don't like it but I tell them my opinion of how they can make it better. I want them to win! What drives you? I have a passion for what I do! I don’t want to do music just for money, I am music! Music is in me, in every part of me. I take it very seriously. You have a magnificent ear especially when remaking a song, how did that come about? I took piano for three months then my parents couldn't afford it. I wasn’t allowed to listen to rap, so I would mimic the music from my video games and listen to old school R&B. In school we had to learn to read music; reading notes was fine but I didn't practice like I should have. I still made it through college. What it taught me was to pay attention to detail, music is not just what you hear but what you feel. The music would not be the same without those intricate parts. I regret not studying the actual reading of notes as hard but everyone has their own path. Has there ever been a finished project that you’re not happy with? I cannot sacrifice on quality! Though projects have a certain budget, I’ve trained myself to give it my all. I strive for perfection. I want every piece of work to be its best. For years, my work has been on the radio and all over the world; yet, I still almost always wish that I could go back and change something. Where did the name Kosmik come from? When I first started, there was a stereotypical local sound. My sound was different and people would question where I was from. The cosmos is the highest point in the atmosphere before you get out of space. I’m trying to place myself as far away from what's expected as possible; hence the name Kosmik.
