Hello Charvass, thank you for taking time out of you busy schedule to share with Upscale Live Magazine? The pleasure is mines, and I thank you for allowing me the opportunity to share my story with you and your audience. Oh, and you can call me Vassie. (smiling) Ok Vassie, I like that name and unique as well, so let’s get started why don’t we. Being an African American Women Business in owner, I have to ask, did you always have the dream of being a business owner as a child? To be honest, my dream as a child was to just stay alive and be able to take care of my mother. Wow, that’s pretty deep, In what ways did you feel you needed to take care of your mother? As a child, I saw my mother struggle raising myself and my brother she worked long hours and still managed to find time to nurture us and keep us out of trouble. We didn’t live in the best neighborhood growing up. I was surrounded by violence, drugs, gangs and uneducated “people”. That’s quite a bit for any child to have to grow up with and unfortunately is common in our community, with that background, how did you get started in Entrepreneurship? And more specifically in this business? My first vision of being an entrepreneur came to me when I began to not just see but also understand that there was a vicious game being played in Corporate America. A game that didn’t necessarily include me as the MVP. I worked with and often underneath people who never went to college but made so much money appearing to be just sitting around not doing much, not being innovative or anything, while I was working extra hard to prove myself for a seat on the team.
