In 1985, over 30 years ago,
Doug Kondziolka and Jose
Granados published the first
issue of the Don Juan and
Miguel News out of Largo.
Beginning as a comic strip of
the characters it is named for,
it soon grew into a national Rennie newspaper that
took on the hurdles of bringing forward wacky
news, controversal discussions, and provided a
platform for the Rennie community as a whole to
express themselves in a way not previously
brought forth.
After a two year period, in the fall of 1988
it took on an evolution when Jonathan Crocker
took over and become what would be known as
"Uproots". The name took on the analogy of every
Rennie not having solid roots, constantly
"uprooting" themselves, moving from fair to fair
until their Roots evolved into symbolizing the
Rennie Community itself.
UPROOTS is the Community. The
Community is Uproots. With out either, neither
would exist. It is for this reason that all content is
taken from the community. The Art, Poetry,
Thoughts, Meanderings, Rants, Raves, and all
aspects that go into an issue is a fragment of what
the
community
is
about.
