Many Bemidji lodgings offer direct access to the trails . The Bemidji State Park has three miles of groomed and well-marked snowmobile trails that connect with the extensive trail system that continues beyond the park .

The Paul Bunyan Trail snowmobile trails are groomed with trail signage every two miles so you can ’ t get lost . Weave your way from Brainerd to Bemidji and pass through 14 trail towns along the way .
“ Walking , hiking and snowmobiling are allowed on the Douglas Area Trail Association ( known as DATA for short ). It covers all four seasons ,” said Feist . Located midway between the Twin Cities and Fargo-Moorhead , DATA maintains 372 miles of snowmobile trails in west central Minnesota . With the abundance of lakes throughout Douglas County , the DATA Trails offer a combination of open flatland to heavily wooded , hilly riding opportunities . “ Snowmobilers often comment about the spectacular views and abundant wildlife they encounter while riding .
The Central Lakes Trail is groomed and goes into many different areas of Douglas County with enough stops to get more gas and a bite to eat ,” said Feist .
Snowmobile trails are officially open from December 1 to April 1 , conditions permitting .
