The 11-year-old Hmong American Farmers Association ( HAFA ) manages a 155-acre farm in Dakota County where member families can lease land , hone their business and agricultural practices and sell produce to the HAFA Food Hub .
According to Janssen Hang , HAFA ’ s executive director , more than 200 Hmong are currently farming in Minnesota . “ Hmong farmers grow and sell their produce throughout Minnesota , however , they are heavily concentrated in the Twin Cities metropolitan area , as the markets are closer to their farm and where they live ,” Hang said . “ Currently , there are Hmong farmers that are farming in Maple Grove , Monticello and the Rogers area for the northwest portion of the Twin Cities , and into Forest Lake and North Branch for the northern suburbs .”
