Another museum in the Little Falls area is the Minnesota Military Museum , located at 15000 Highway 115 . Located in Camp Ripley , it features permanent and special displays both inside and outside . It shows the history of Minnesotans who served and is the only museum in the state that represents all the branches of the military . The outdoor exhibit has more than 60 vehicles , tanks , aircraft , and artillery pieces .
The Charles A . Weyerhaeuser Memorial Museum is located at 2151 Lindbergh Drive South in Little Falls . It is right on the Mississippi River , and just a half mile from the Charles Lindbergh House & Museum .
Heartland Symphony Orchestra has scheduled performances in April , October and December in Little Falls and Brainerd .
PEQUOT LAKES The Chokecherry Festival , organized by Pequot Lakes / Breezy Point Lions Club for Saturday , Aug . 5 , 2023 , is an annual festival featuring fine art , crafts , homegrown product exhibitors and local food booths .
Pequot Lakes Stars & Stripes Day , an annual festival in Trailside Park on July 3 and 4 , is organized by the Pequot Lakes Chamber of Commerce . It features fine art , fine craft , crafts , a flea market , homegrown products and antique / collectibles exhibitors , and food booths .
Pequot Lakes Community Theatre ( PLCT ), 30805 Olson St ., established in 1984 , produces three shows a year .
Bean Hole Days and Arts & Crafts festival is held every July at Trailside Park , 31095 Government Drive .
CROSSLAKE The Crosslake Historic Log Village , 35404 County Road 3 , takes you back in time to the 1800s . Check out the general store , tourist camp , logger ’ s camp , horse-drawn school bus sleigh , township school , Ostlund homestead , livery , Whitefish Chain mailboat , Duffy ’ s Tavern , the blacksmith shop and town hall . The village is open from 11 a . m . to 4 p . m . Saturday and Sunday from Memorial Day through Labor Day .
The Northern Trackers Railroad Club , 36184 County Road 66 , features northern Minnesota ’ s largest model train display .
“ There are O Scale , HO Scale and G Scale layouts and running trains on display ,” the website says . “ There is also a small layout that children can operate . A 1 / 10 scale replica of the William Crooks steam engine sits outdoors in the train club yard . Children love to climb in and pretend they are the engineer .”
Anyone who wants to learn how to build a model train may watch / help club members work on building the exhibits .
The museum is open to the public 10 a . m . to 2 p . m . Saturdays year-round , and 3-6 p . m . Wednesdays from June through Labor Day . Groups tours are available by appointment at 218-692-1900 .
Kicks , The Art Place , is at 36066 County Road 66 .
The National Loon Center , 14303 Gould St ., will open in Crosslake in the spring of 2024 . It is an interactive educational and recreational center for nature lovers and conservationists .
DETROIT LAKES The Historic Holmes Theatre & Event Center , 806 Summit Ave ., offers theater in a remodeled auditorium . In addition , the website says , “ Bring a chair and a love of the poet for summer Shakespeare in the Park . Soothe your soul with free live music at the City Park bandshell each Tuesday evening during the summer . Catch the color of an annual Pow Wow . And discover the work of sculptors , painters , and potters everywhere you turn .”
WHITEFISH CHAIN According to Kent Carlson , board member of Crosslake Village Board and owner of WhiteFishChain . com website , the area including Crosslake , Pequot Lakes , Jenkins , and Pine River “ is trending as one of the most popular areas in the state . ” The majority of the people visiting the White Fish Chain website are from the fivestate area , Carlson said .
The National Loon Center , slated to open in 2024 in Crosslake , is drawing interest from a lot of people from outstate online , as well , he said .

WADENA With more than 100 hand-painted murals decorating downtown buildings , Wadena depicts 1,000 years of Minnesota history known as the “ Largest Puzzle in the World .”
“ Inspired by the dream of a local artist and brought to reality by several gifted residents , the murals in Wadena are a must see ,” the website says . “ Located throughout the community and concentrated on Main Street , the almost two dozen murals feature Wadena ’ s cultural history , recreation activities , farming practices , and area wildlife . The hundreds of hours of painting donated by mural artists has been a wonderful addition to our community .”
