ADULT SIZED 'LITTLE TIKES' CAR
A roadworthy version of a children's toy car has been built. John Bitmead constructed an adult-sized copy of a Little Tikes toy car, which takes petrol, has a tax disc, and can reach speeds of up to 70mph (110km/h). Costing £4,000 to build, it also includes an airbag, headlights and mirrors.
REVISE IN YOUR SLEEP
Research into our memory patterns shows that memories that are evoked during deep sleep are more likely to stay in our minds for longer, and with greater accuracy. Sheepdog Sciences, based in California, is seeking to use that theory to help people study. An app logs what music or sound is being listened to while someone is learning new information. Then, at night, that audio is played back softly when a person is in deep sleep.
HALF MOBILE, HALF STUN GUN
US firm Yellow Jacket has caused a stir at the Consumer Electronics Show by unveiling a smartphone case that doubles as an electric shock stun gun. The "self-defence" feature packs a 650,000 volt sting, and comes in a range of colours including pink. Similar devices are illegal in many countries including the UK.
