On a surprisingly warm early March afternoon, 40 ale appreciating guests pilled into the Sheffield Tap's function room for an afternoon of beer tasting, all in aid of raising money for local Sheffield Charity 'Cavendish Cancer Care'.
A diverse crowd consisting of an even mixture of males and females, varied in age, made the room alive with atmosphere as they were welcomed and shown to their seats by Jamie White and Paul Wilson.
After a brief welcome from the organisers given by the afternoon's compare Paul, Johnny Cole, head of the charity, gave both a witty

and moving speech, where he thanked guests for their attendance, while reminding them of the purpose of the event and the work that the charity does.
Shortly after, the main event of the day, the beer tasting workshop, began, which required the beer to start flowing. Untapped team member Amy Bryant and the Sheffield Tap's assistant manager Liz Casserly attended to giving guests their tasting glasses and pouring ale tasters throughout the workshop, speaking with guests about the programme, charity, and ales.
A definite event highlight was provided by speaker Chris
Lewington who took attendees through the tasting, taking a personable approach to engage guests and really get them interested in the beers.
The tasting began with the Tapped Co 'Best Bitter', followed by the Thornbridge 'Chiron', Sierra Nevada 'Torenado Extra IPA', Brewdog 'Dogma', and Tapped Co 'Miami Weiss'.
The Brewdog and Sierra Nevada brews seemed the most popular among those in attendance, who filled the room with a buzz as they talked to one another and Chris about the beers.
After the tasting workshop to avoid any squiffy heads, guests were treated to a locally sourced buffet provided by
Sheffield caterers 'PJ Taste', including a Yorkshire & Derbyshire cheeseboard, meat platters, fresh baked breads, and chocolate espresso mousse.
The quality and enjoyment of the buffet was pretty clear by how quickly everything disappeared (and the verbal feedback given by some guests on it's quality and tastiness)!
Following guests tucking into their food, the event raffle containing an array of beer-y prizes was held.
