Institution-wide Projects for Supporting Course Design , Development , and Review at UNSW

Dr Anne Galea
The Course Design and Development Community of Practice ( CoP ) aims to create frameworks and resources that support the development of course learning outcomes , content , and assessments that align to provide a clear roadmap for successful student learning at UNSW . Our CoP has produced a ‘ Guide to Course Design and Development ’ that consolidates existing UNSW resources and presents them in chronological phases to help staff better navigate and satisfy the essential requirements of course design , development , and review procedures . In addition to ongoing revisions to the Guide to ensure its institutionwide coverage and functionality , we are currently embarking on new projects that seek to produce resources for supporting program design , curriculum mapping , and the integration of ‘ Students as Partners ’ initiatives into courses and programs . Our CoP invites the UNSW learning and teaching community to contribute to and provide feedback on our existing and future projects via our interactive Education Festival poster .
The Course Design and Development Community of Practice ( CoP ) was created in 2019 and consists of 40 academic and professional staff from across UNSW . Our CoP members meet monthly to discuss different aspects of course design and development , with a focus on identifying the related challenges and needs of the UNSW learning and teaching community . A major goal of our CoP is to produce frameworks and resources that support academic and professional staff with various aspects of course design , development , and review , including policies , procedures , and best practice .
