This writing style guide will help you communicate concisely , clearly and consistently when representing UNSW Sydney .
We cover tone of voice , language , spelling , grammar and punctuation , providing a framework for you to best express yourself to your audience .
This is an amalgamation of various UNSW style guides and glossaries , combined with new content . You will be familiar with some style points , while others may contradict your usual practice . In all cases we have chosen a style that is as simple as possible , encouraging clear and accurate communication .
The English language is constantly evolving , and we will update this guide periodically .
The Macquarie Dictionary is our reference point . You can refer to it if you ’ re unsure how to spell any word not covered in this guide .
