NEW ECONOMY NETWORK OF AUSTRALIA

UNSW RESEARCH
The New Economy Network of Australia research explored small-scale sustainable economy initiatives that translated aspects of social activism into innovations in enterprise design and operation.
These initiatives, from community-owned renewable energy to communitysupported agriculture to car-sharing and coworking, all faced legal and regulatory barriers in ensuring they could grow and endure with fidelity to their original values. Dismantling these barriers to build a more regenerative economy requires long-term dialogue, advocacy and collective action across sectors, from individuals to organisations.
To support this, a new organisation has grown from the research, in collaboration with the Australian Earth Laws Initiative.
The New Economy Network of Australia is a member-based cooperative of organisations and individuals working to create an ecologically healthy and socially just society by providing a platform for knowledge sharing, peer to peer support and cross-pollination of ideas and collaboration, including with organisations such as the International Solidarity Economies Network and the transnational Wellbeing Economy Alliance.
