Advanced standing
UNSW Law has links with industry and professional legal bodies. Students can benefit from these affiliations by taking advantage of advanced standing opportunities which recognise expertise in a particular area of practice.
Credit CPD towards the LLM: Attendees of UNSW Continuing Legal Education seminars may be eligible for advanced standing of 6 units of credit or 1 course of the LLM if they have produced a substantial piece of legal writing such as a publication in a journal, a submission to law reform commission, or an official report. Master of Laws / Master of Dispute Resolution: Mediators who have undergone mediator training and been accredited to the national standard by LEADR / IAMA, the Association of Dispute Resolvers, may be eligible for advanced standing of 6 UOC or 1 course.
Graduates of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in Australia who have completed the CIArb Diploma may be eligible for up to 12 UOC or 2 courses.
Other UNSW Law Masters programs: NSW Law Society Accredited Specialist practitioners may be eligible for advanced standing of 6 units of credit( UOC) or 1 course in the LLM or other postgraduate law programs for lawyers.
Students who have successfully completed postgraduate courses in programs at other institutions may get advanced standing of up to 12 UOC in the UNSW Law Masters programs.
English Language Requirements
