English (EE)
Learn to communicate effectively in English. Essential English provides
the basic English skills you need for all social, academic and work situations.
Why study Essential English?
• Essential English is the starting point for students
who want to progress into FEEC and UEEC courses
to prepare themselves for university entry.
Entry requirements
Students are tested and interviewed on arrival
for placement in levels:
Level CEFR* • Essential English leads directly to Career and professional
English courses with a focus on spoken and written fluency. Essential English 1 A1 Elementary
• Essential English is offered at 3 levels to suit your ability,
from elementary to intermediate (CEFR A1 to B1). Essential English 2 A2 Pre-Intermediate
• Course content at each level is based on progressively
developing language skills using topics of interest to you. Essential English 3 B1 Intermediate
• Classes maximise student interaction and practice,
using pair and group work as well as individual study.

AUD$450 per week (tuition fees)
Course Content
• Listening to conversations, news, documentary
and drama programs.
• Grammar in context.
• Vocabulary building in topic areas.
• Building reading and writing skills with emails,
stories and essay paragraphs.
• Speaking skills including conversation, discussion
and presentations as well as pronunciation.
