Sustainable Finance Dialogue in the Classroom
Associate Professor Kingsley Fong ’ s interest in sustainable investing lead him to develop the thirdyear undergraduate course FINS3644 : Sustainable and Responsible Investing , co-designed and co-taught with William Wu , Adjunct Lecturer and Sustainability Investment Specialist
Sustainable and responsible investing is a multi-trillion-dollar industry and growing . The aim of this course is to educate students on sustainable investing issues , opportunities and challenges . Students discuss and design investment processes , products , and practices that encourage positive changes in the world while also delivering investment returns and fund flow . This course blends finance theory , ethics , industry practices and trends using case study , data analysis , and academic research .
In 2021 , ‘ Sustainable and Responsible Investing ’ was one of just eight business school courses from around the world recognised for an Aspen Institute Ideas Worth Teaching Award .
AGSM Indigenous Leadership Alumni Conference
In 2020 , 80 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander executives , business leaders and community advocates joined for the inaugural AGSM Indigenous Leadership Alumni Conference . The conference brought together alumni from AGSM ’ s three Indigenous Leadership programs . The focus of the conference was the challenges that face Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the corporate environment , while also highlighting the inherent strength that Indigenous people bring to the table . ASGM ’ s leadership programs include The Emerging Indigenous Executive Leaders Program ( EIELP ), Aboriginal Career and Leadership Development Program ( ACLDP ) and the Transport for NSW Aboriginal Career Development and Mentoring Program ( ACDMP ). Over the life of the programs , hundreds of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander professionals have graduated .
Forum on Heathy Ageing
The link between health and ageing , and specifically healthy ageing , is gaining prominence as an issue in both developed countries and emerging economies , and is a focus for our Centre of Excellence in Population Ageing Research ( CEPAR – see Section 4.1 ). Inspired by the UN ’ s declaration of the 2020s as the ‘ decade of healthy ageing ’ CEPAR hosted a Forum on Healthy Ageing in early 2020 , bringing together researchers from multiple disciplines focused on this issue from around the country to explore concepts and measurement of healthy ageing as well as economic , environmental and social enablers .
