Digital Sustainability Hub ( DS Hub )
Founding director Professor Shan Pan , School of Information Systems & Technology Management , with AGSM , Schools of Management & Governance and Marketing , and disciplines of Built Environment , Computer Science and Engineering .
To be successful , the DS Hub will have to excel in establishing thought leadership in developing digitally-enabled solutions capable of addressing the challenges of urbanisation , understanding the changing roles of industries as part of sustainable city development , and contributing to the creation and dissemination of DS education .
Principle 4
Digital sustainability ( DS ) is the ability to advance the UN SDGs through the effective deployment of digitally enabled solutions . The DS Hub seeks to establish thought leadership in digital sustainability by developing a holistic approach by which entrepreneurial organisations and communities can deploy future-ready digital technologies . It has a specific aim of contributing to the achievement of SDG 9 ( industry , innovation and infrastructure ) and SDG 11 ( sustainable cities and communities ) through a multi-disciplinary focus on sustainable industries and city development .
The DS Hub will develop a holistic approach to addressing SDGs by involving 19 multi-disciplinary researchers from the Business School , the School of the Built Environment , and the School of Computer Science and Engineering . In the next three years , the Hub ’ s research program will be anchored on the following three research themes : ( 1 ) sustainability and resilience , ( 2 ) the sustainable urban environment , and ( 3 ) sustainable industries ( see Figure 7 ).
