6.6 The Business of ... Podcast Series
Principle 6
Season 1 of this podcast series was the Business of Leadership which saw guests from business , government , for-purpose and academia share their stories about leadership in today ’ s accelerated world . Each episode examined leadership in times of complexity , and how the world can be seen differently , rather than be transfixed by change . Episode topics included : crisis management and recovery , sustainable business practices , building a resilient company culture , inclusive leadership and fostering wellbeing .
Season 2 of the “ Business Of ” Podcast launched in September 2021 . The first three episodes feature industry leaders and Business School academics sharing their perspectives on the Business of Food ( how the food industry is responding to the sustainable food movement and reducing waste ); the Business of AI ( how businesses and governments can better understand and implement ethical AI .); and the Business of Tourism ( the rise of Indigenous tourism experiences and the opportunities they bring ).
Episode 1 in the series was “ The Business of ... Ethical Leadership ”, with presenters from industry and the Centre for Social Impact . As the notion that a primary purpose of business should be to contribute to a better society gains momentum , leaders have a fresh mandate to balance social , economic and environmental objectives with bottom line results . The podcast explores the intricacies of ethical leadership , and the challenges and opportunities leaders face when combining profit with purpose .
6.7 Business Think Rising Stars Webinars
BusinessThink is the Business School ’ s online business journal which shares the latest research , analysis , evidence-based opinion and stories from leading academics to help inform business leaders as well as influence policy and strategic decisions .
The August 2020 UNSW BusinessThink Rising Stars was a four-part webinar series that put the Business School ’ s new generation of academic thought leaders and their ideas in the spotlight . The webinar series provided a unique opportunity to learn about emerging ideas that business and society will be talking about in the coming years . The four episodes were :
> COVID Social Vulnerabilities – Using the CSI Social Progress Index to show COVID social vulnerabilities state by state . Dr Isabella Saunders and Dr Megan Weier from the Centre for Social Impact .
> Disaster Relief Inc . – What motivates firms to engage in corporate giving , and what are the implications for shareholder value ? Dr Cara Vansteenkiste , School of Banking & Finance .
> Facebook Assessments for Hiring – What should organisations be aware of when using social media information to recruit job applicants ? Dr Liwen Zeng , School of Management .
> Child Labour – When do children have a say in child labour decisions ? Dr Sarah Walker , School of Economics .
The series was a great success , with more than 300 registrations – exceeding the target goal of 200 registrations by 150 %.
