Transforming healthcare with connected sensors: collaborative innovation for better patient monitoring and health outcomes
Challenge
Traditional health check-ups often require frequent visits to clinics or hospitals and may involve invasive procedures. This practice is costly, inconvenient, and fails to deliver timely health information for patients and clinicians. The Hub addresses these challenges by developing connected sensor technologies that enable continuous, accessible, and non-intrusive monitoring, enabling earlier detection and diagnosis, more effective treatment, and better patient outcomes.
Solution
The Hub designs and develops wearable and connected sensors that capture real-time health data, integrate with clinical systems, and support predictive care. By partnering with hospitals, technology companies, and patient advocacy groups, the Hub ensures that solutions are codesigned for usability, affordability, and scalability. It establishes a complete ecosystem from design and manufacturing to deployment, delivering real-time monitoring, earlier prevention, and timely intervention for a wide range of health conditions.
Target customers / end-users
• patients seeking continuous, non-invasive health monitoring to support proactive and personalised care.
• clinicians and healthcare providers aiming to enhance diagnosis, treatment, and patient management through real-time data.
• industry partners focused on commercialising and manufacturing next generation connected health technologies.
Progress
• initial AU $ 10 m investment through the ARC Industrial Transformation Research Hub program and industry co-investment, with additional funding exceeding AU $ 6m
• successfully trialled sensor prototypes in clinical settings, advancing towards Technology Readiness Level( TRL) 7-8.
