food booths, and helping maintain the Knox Drive- In. He also assists with events such as Movies in the Square, car shows, and annual parades.
Davis is also involved in church-based programs aimed at children and families. Through the church, he helps with back-to-school events and Vacation Bible School. These programs are designed to give children safe spaces to learn, play, and feel supported.
Looking ahead, Davis is particularly excited about Knox County UNITE’ s upcoming 20th Annual Fishing Tournament scheduled for March 28. The event is designed to introduce children to fishing while promoting healthy habits and positive role models. It combines two things Davis cares deeply about: helping young people and spending time outdoors.
Outside of volunteering, Davis enjoys fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. He has one daughter and two grandchildren, who remain central to his life. Even with a busy volunteer schedule, family remains his source of joy.
For Davis, the most rewarding parts of volunteering are“ the look in their eyes, when they come and give you a hug, and making a difference in people’ s lives.”
Still, the work is not without its challenges. He says the most difficult moments come when his efforts do not lead to the outcome he hoped for— particularly when working with people struggling with addiction.
Despite a busy volunteer schedule, Dwight Davis always puts family first.

Some work with children, some work with adults and some work with animals. Some deliver reading materials; others deliver meals. Some tutor, some clean, some drive, but they all have the same goal: to help those in need. They are volunteers, and without them, many organizations and individuals would be lost.
