The other level is a tactical supervisor , whose job is to work directly with the firefighters on the scene , and basically he makes decisions on the tactics of how to best attack a fire and if they need to change tactics throughout the fire scene process .
“ The incident commander is to look and see what he is seeing from outside the structure , and the tactical supervisor ’ s job is to paint a picture of what he ’ s seeing for the incident commander on the inside ,” Howard explained . “ It ’ s a military operation every time we go out the door . We are structured just like the military . We have lieutenants , we have captains , we have firefighters , and we have battalion chiefs that are usually what we would consider the military company officer .”
Both Somerset city firefighters and Pulaski County volunteer firemen have always displayed unwavering courage and commitment . Their extraordinary efforts have not only saved countless lives , but their bravery and dedication reminds everyone that even in the darkest moments , hope and heroism shine the brightest .
