This is when the excitement really begins! Figure out what you’re in the mood for. Do you want to hit up the nearest beach or roam a big city? Be spontaneous and pick somewhere random. Once you know where your destination is, you have to decide how to get there. If you have visited this place before, then trying taking a different route. You will get to see towns for the first time and won’t be bored with the same scenery. My favorite thing to do on a road trip is to take back roads. You get to avoid the hustle and bustle of the interstate and get to explore new areas.
One year, my friends and I were heading to the beach in South Texas. We had all been there many times growing up and knew the normal route so well that it became very mundane. We found a road that went around our normal path and it was the best thing we ever did. We got to see hills and lakes that we didn’t even know existed and it was absolutely beautiful. Even if it did take a little longer, it was worth being out in the open and out of traffic.
Figure out which person has the most reliable car that has good mileage. One year, my friends and I decided to take a big truck on our trip and when we filled up, we were surprised to see that the cost was $85. Keep that in mind! While you do want everyone to be comfortable, a smaller car will work just fine. Make sure someone in the group knows how to change a tire and jump a car. These situations do happen, especially when you spend the day on the road.
Gather some friends this summer and hit the road! Drive to the nearest beach or just cruise the country. Road trips are one of the best things you can do with friends or family because most of the fun is just getting to the destination. Road trips open up opportunities to catch up, jam out to your favorite throwback songs, and visit new places together. It’s basically a mobile sleepover! It gives you the chance to get out of town and make some long lasting memories, so why wait?
We have compiled tips for every aspect of your road trip including ways to save money! My friends and I take a road trip every year and we have learned from each and every one. Use this as a reference when putting together your trip to ensure you get the most out of your time away.
