Color Coordination

Black or White - You can either go for something subtle or bright with a black cap and gown. Anything goes with black so it is up to your own personal style on whether you’d like to keep it toned down or go with a pop of color, either way it will make for great graduation photos!

Navy Blue – The colors that pair best with navy blue are coral, green, yellow, and pink. Currently mustard yellow is a big color trend for Spring/Summer so if your gown color happens to fall under the navy blue spectrum you’ll have plenty of options to choose from.

Purple – The colors that pair best with purple are blue, orange, grey, yellow, and green. There are many different shades of purple, most graduation gowns tend to be a deeper shade of purple and if this is the case with your school then try countering it with lighter shades like light grey or light blue to really stand out then opting out for black or white.

Red – The colors that go well with red are blue, green, grey, yellow, purple, and pink. Depending on your personal style red may be challenging to style, but it’s simple if you look at it this way, do you want to go bold or subtle? If you want to make a statement at graduation and stand out of the crowd try pairing your gown with a fuchsia shade of pink or a light green or blue. If you want to still have some color in your outfit but not make much of a statement try aiming towards grey or a shade of yellow, again mustard yellow is trending so most won’t see it as such a loud color.

Pro Tip: Of course black and white are neutrals so you can never go wrong! Also, if we did not mention your cap and gown color above search through the colors we paired it with and see which ones are listed with them!
