Magic In The Pursuit Of Art

Art is objective and subjective . The world over we marvel at different art forms , impressions and celebrated pieces . Many times the story of the artist influences the valuation journey of the art form . In other cases the story in the art form shapes the conversation around the artist . The impressed want to know more of what informed the art ; others want to interrogate the artist for first hand quips and bits . It is those that capture the moment in the story of either the art form or artist that value it higher than all else and in their quest to retell the story in their fashion bid the highest to keep it .
Valuation of art is all about beholding the artist expression in both the art form and the story that informs the said art . It is a delicate impression of perspective and fully rest in the eyes and pocket of the beholder . Art valuation is a science with different fields playing in their best format that brings to life the magic of the interwoven underlying stories . There are different art forms and expressions that spring from human reflection of life and emanating issues .
These art forms are all science projects . Natural elements that chemically are mixed from paint , canvas that takes cotton , resin among other materials to be woven into the base , brushes chosen for their unique strand patterns and strength among others . The choice of the setting to be painted , the story that informs the pieces and characters in the art , the lighting , shading , patterns and strokes all build the science behind the masterpiece .
Once done , art has to be staged to be savoured and appreciated . The stand , stage , lighting , ambience and other complementing pieces all build up to the appreciation . All these things create the scene for valuation . The fulcrum of all these being the “ who ” that determines the valuation of the said art .
Recently I bumped into an art piece that was worn by an artist . The bracelet was a unique brass piece that dotted turquoise gem stones . Made as a classy clasp it told of a story of fortitude and resilience . It seemed to say “ I am not easily shaken off ”. For me it was the major piece of the four-piece art that also had a pair of earrings and a necklace . In my admiration I inquired of the owner where I could find such of course this was after sharing pleasantries . That is how I was invited to visit the Art Centre in Kilimani , Nairobi .

This Art Center is a hub that houses office spaces that double up as art studios and art sales center . Artists can have a whole space or co-share with others .
The space is an inspirational haven for artistic expression and creativity . There is a lot of admirable pieces showcased as finished products and ongoing projects . I ended up in Ndunde ’ s studio . I marvelled at one of her series dubbed “ mushroom love ”. A depiction of mushroom in bold attractive colours with imaginative surprise spring twists such as human like frog in one and a snail in another .
How do artists become ? What inspires them ? Who pays them ? How do they create value ? Who decides the value of their work is a masterpiece ?
There are many steps to making creative innovative art . Here we consider seven ( 7 ) that would enrich your creativity and innovation spirit .
Be Inspired
Take in the world around you . Smell the flowers , appreciate the art of God ’ s creation . Interrogate the rainbow , capture the clouds in their majestic elegance , hold and toast to the potential opportunities dotting the shimmering expansive horizon . Taste the richness of edible seeds , roots , fruits and leaves . Then find the underlying good that can inform your inspiration and expression in your work of art . Inventions are built on God ’ s creation . All the matter around us has informed innovations . Be studious therefore in each scene you find yourself .
