Music has evolved over time, not just sinc ethe 1900s, but basically ever since the invention of music. Here I will share with you the Evolution of Music since the 1900s.
1900s In the 1900s, Classical Music was still prominent. Yet as the decade went on, other genres of music began to be created, like Jazz, yet it wasn't as popular.
1910s More genres of music have been created, like Blues, Ragtime, and Gospel. Some artists were Irving Berlin, the Original Dixieland Jazz Band, and Scott Joplin.
1920s The 20s was the time of Jazz. It was the Harlem Renaissance which was a cultural explosion of culture. One famous artist known for playing Trumpet and singing was Louis Armstrong.
1930s Jazz didn't flourish just in the 20s, it did so in the 30s too. Ledgendary bandleaders of this era included Count Basie, Duke Ellington, and Benny Goodman.
1940s In this decade, Country and Latin music was popularized. Other artists included musical legend Frank Sinatra and Bill Crosby.
1950 The 50s was the time of Rock and Roll. This new genre engulfed the world with its new music. Elvis Presley, the King of Rock and Roll, played a major role in this decade.
1960s The new Rock genre was continued in the 60s. The famous band from England, The Beatles, wrote songs like Hey Jude and Come Together. This band still can account for of what rock is today.
1970s In the 70s this was the time of Disco Fever. A famous song well known to many people would be Stayin' Alive by the Bee Gees. Rock still was popular during this time though.
1980s The 80s was the time of new music. New genres were created and emerged out of nowhere. Iconic artist Michael Jackson, dubbed the King of Pop, created famous songs like Billie Jean, Thriller, and Beat It.
1990s In this decade, music had a huge variety of genres. Grunge, Rock, Rap, Hip-Hop, Pop, and several other genres flourished in this era. Artists like Madonna and Britney Spears became very popular.
2000s The 2000s was the new millennium. Therefore, new music. In this era, Rap and Hip-Hop became more popular. Justin Timberlake broke away from the 90s band, InSync and became a solo recording artist. He became very successful and still records songs today.
Present Day Today, music spans out everwhere. Rap, Hip-Hop, and Pop genres are still very popular, yet Rock might be making its way back to the top.
