The Disability Performance Protocol is a 5 session all-encompassing fitness program that is aimed at improving the well-being of the participant and getting them physically and men-tally prepared to participate in the team-sport of wheelchair basketball. Session 1: The Fitness Assessment: The participant will be introduced to the gym facility, as well as partake in physical fitness assessments that will test, muscle strength, muscle endurance, limb ROM, and cardiovascular endurance. Session 2: Flexibility and Mobility: This week will focus on stretching and increasing range of motion. Session 3: Core and Cardio: This week will focus on arm ergometer training and other forms of cardiovascular exercise. Session 4: Resistance Training: We will be working on shoulder strength, decreased pain, increased muscle mass, decreased arm fat. Session 5: Training for Sport: Will focus on basic basketball fundamentals and the specific movements in a wheelchair. This program focuses on a straightforward approach to a physically fitness regiment that increase participation in physical activity and increases overall health. Including increase energy, productivity, program adherence, social changes, physical changes, and psychologi- cal improvements. 10
