This two day City & Guilds ' course has been designed for those with electrical experience , who want to cover the new Institution of Engineering and Technology In-service inspection and testing of electrical equipment 5th edition .
A notable change from the old City & Guilds Portable Appliance Testing course , is the focus on all electrical equipment , both portable and installed - moving away from the traditional ' Portable " terminology .
The largest change to the 5th edition is its move towards a risk assessment based inspection , with all inspection and testing of equipment to be carried out following an implemented electrical risk assessment . Throughout the course you will learn how to structure , implement and document this risk assessment and how to carry out the practical aspects of testing .
Upon completion of this City & Guilds electrical technical course , you will gain the working knowledge to ensure the safety of electrical equipment in accordance with the newest codes of practices . In addition to the essential knowledge you will gain - this City & Guilds certificate is formal recognition of your skills and experience , which can improve your career prospects and provide new opportunities to progress into other electrical roles .
To sit this course you should be a holder of the 18th Edition wiring regulations BS7671:2018 , and - At least one of the following : - - An ECS card , - JIB electrician grade card - Have successfully completed an NVQ based electrotechnical apprenticeship or technical certificate to level 3 - Be familiar with the electrical systems and hazards electricity can bring .
