...her magic on such an intricately delicate procedure. “Pick her up and I will open a portal. Remember, she needs blood and still needs healers to continue my work.”

Jeia picked up the sleeping princess, with the battered Sarea and Yane watching. They waited for Laxur to open the portal. The honor guard came to attention to move to either side of the duke.

The dark queen raised her hand but it was to brush Asora’s cheek gently, sighing. Laxur then turned slightly and raised both hands, opening the portal.

Jeia walked forward and stopped, turned, saying, “Thank you, Laxur for performing surgery. You are a true healer but I damn you as well for the taking of Carlon. This will not end well and you must know that.”

Laxur gave him a twisted smile. “She means great deal to many Humans but I think that others, including your government, that is filled with Elves, would rather she died a martyr’s death.”

Jeia swallowed, in his heart he felt that Laxur cared more than the people Asora led. He knew that the dark queen did what she did for expediency, after all the death of Asora by Laxur’s people would cause immediate retaliation in particular the Humans and Angels even though not everyone was happy with the Human/Angel hybrid. There were those insane enough to believe that the Grand Utopian Kingdom without Humans could go against the Darkcon Empire.

Jeia was not an idiot. He saw the new weapons that the Darkcons had and in the future he saw only disaster brewing.

He answered her, “What you say maybe true but I think that though you helped the princess you still want war. By the Hananaka, I hope I am wrong.”

Laxur smiled again, insolently, “you run along now, Duke Jeia before our sister begins bleeding again. I will be looking over your factory and deciding how best to use your new designs in laser weaponry. Thank you for the new toy. Hurry now before Asora slips into a coma due to blood loss.”

Yane knew that Laxur, the sexy woman with the voluptuous figure was the single most dangerous enemy that the Grand Utopian Kingdom had to face. Her sister, Princess Asora was only six months into her reign had hard decisions to make. The Utopian court could decide to go to war over this insignificant planet and they were ill prepared. The princess was untried, which was probably why Laxur felt comfortable testing their resolve.

The Darkcons had not lashed out at the Utopians for generations and their development was decades ahead of the kingdom. Laxur, to the peaceful Utopians, had been nibbling at them for a while now. He knew even though he would give a detailed report the courtiers would never accept that.

Sarea stepped through the portal to find herself in front of the carved doors of the palace which had guards and others streaming out. She turned to urge the duke through. “Come, your Grace. We must get the princess inside and to the healers who are gathering now.”

The admiral, now on Utopian soil felt in more control. He turned to watch Laxur’s face as the portal collapsed. It was a mask of contradictions. He saw her concern for Asora and her hand picking up the discarded laser, her prize. The portal closed. Damn, he wanted that weapon for the Utopians. Now he was even less sure he could beat back the Darkcons.

The Elf put her bag on the bed saying, “we will need to undress her. You will need to leave Duke Jeia.”

Sarea waited for the young man to walk with her out of the room. “You may await for news here.” They were in the princess’s white sitting room.

Without warning, in whizzed four blobs of light, Asora’s Fairy maids, ladies in waiting.

“What has happened?” The head Fairy, Gourani asked.

“Princess Asora has been shot. We have need of your assistance to undress her so the Lady T’a may treat her.” Sarea answered.

They took off for the bedroom. They quickly undressed her, using their magic and put her under the covers.

Lady T’a went quickly to work. It took hours to repair the damage and give her blood but she was healed.
