Demographics Recommendations | 2023 Update
1.1. A Establish a permanent task force charged with directly engaging residents, organizations and institutions on matters regarding race, ethnicity and other forms of diversity in Arlington.
City Facilitator: City Manager’ s Office Timeframe: Short term( 6-12 months)- Complete(& Ongoing) Actions:
• Unity Council members were appointed Aug. 24, 2021.
• The first meeting was held on Oct. 13, 2021.
• The Annual Report published in August 2023.
1.2. A Enhance Arlington’ s Citizen Satisfaction Survey to include a wider range of important variables such as race / ethnicity, income and education.
City Facilitator: Finance Department Timeframe: Short term( 6-12 months)- Complete(& Ongoing) Actions:
• The final survey was delivered in April 2023 and contained a significant increase in responses, allowing for nearly all survey questions to be reported out by race and ethnicity.
• An equity-specific dashboard is in final development.
1.3. A Establish a Chief Diversity Officer who will create various programs that aim to enhance diversity, equity and inclusion.
City Facilitator: City Manager’ s Office Timeframe: Medium term( 1-2 years)- Complete Actions:
• Chief Equity Officer Troy Williams began work in July 2022.
