“Don't underestimate
'Ould Ireland'!"
Stephen Brennan, recently appointed
representative of Wood-Mizer in Ireland
reports that Sean Tiernan’s operation is
typical of some Irish firms who have been
able to adapt to the country’s financial crisis.
He explains:
"Rather than buy sawn boards from mills
and hardware centres he imports logs from
countries like Korea and even the UK and
saws them in an affordable and sustainable
way.
"If he bought-in the lumber ready sawn the
supplier would add 30% to the cost.
"By cutting timber himself he is able to sell
it at a reasonable price to a cash strapped
market and stil
