Formation History of APC
The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) is
composed of a very diverse and dynamic community of
nations, has emerged as an economic powerhouse. The year
2015 marked another milestone for the community with its
implementation of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC).
With a vision to integrate common market and production
base, it paves the way for the free flow of goods, services,
investment capital, and skilled labor among the member
countries.
In line with this development, coupled with the growing
number of Asia Pacific foreign-based chapters, started
the idea to align and strengthen the chapter and its
membership in the region.
In UAP NATCON 41, the chapters of UAP Makati CBD
Chapter, UAP Singapore Chapter, UAP Kuala Lumpur –
Malaysia Chapter held a preliminary talk about challenges
within the chapter and networks of architects in Asia Pacific
Region. It subsequently established and formulated the
objective, mission and vision.
In UAP NATCON 42, UAP Makati CBD Chapter together
with UAP Singapore Chapter and UAP Kuala Lumpur –
Malaysia Chapter and with the newly formed chapters
of UAP Brunei and UAP Shanghai China Chapter, held its
initial talk to form a group representation with a vision to
establish a strong and unified group of foreign based UAP
Architects in the Asia Pacific Region.
In September 2016, UAP Joint Inductions of UAP Singapore
Chapter and Kuala Lumpur - Malaysia Chapter held at
Marina Bay Sands, Singapore the together with UAP Makati
CBD Chapter as the Philippines Representative, UAP Brunei
and UAP Shanghai China Chapter finalized its intention to
form the UAP – Asia Pacific Council (APC). The Chapters
signed its Joint Statement of Declaration of intent to
form a Council of UAP Chapters from Asia Pacific with the
general aim of consolidating, engaging, encouraging and
supporting, current and new chapters towards a unified
group, in support of the visions and programs of UAP. The
APC bylaw was subsequently drafted and approved as well.
In January 2017, the Committees of Architect Working
Abroad – Local and ASEAN had submitted the intent of UAP
Chapters Makati CBD, Singapore Chapter, Kuala Lumpur
– Malaysia Chapter, UAP Brunei Chapter, UAP Shanghai –
