JANET ARVIZU-GARCIA
Garcia is the daughter of Blanca Garcia and Marco Arvizu and achieved the STAR Student recognition for her performance on the SAT . She selected WCHS chemistry teacher Dr . Robert Brantley as STAR Teacher . She plans to attend Georgia Tech and major in physics . As an honor student , Garcia has received multiple scholarships and awards including the Hispanic Heritage Youth Award and the National Beta Scholarship .
The PAGE Student Teacher Achievement Recognition ( STAR ) program is sponsored by the Wilkinson County Chamber of Commerce and is administered and promoted by the Professional Association of Georgia Educators ( PAGE ) and the PAGE Foundation . High school seniors must have the highest score on a single test date on the SAT and be in the top 10 percent or top 10 students of their class based on grade point average to qualify for STAR nomination .
