Being placed on the
world heritage list
stopped
foreign
animals like cats, pigs,
goats and rats from
being introduced and
ruining the island’s
biodiversity.
UNESCO also limited
the
number
of
tourist beds to 400
so it will not damage
the environment.
After
rats
were
accidentally
introduced, 5 species
of endemic birds
were extinct within
two
years.
So
UNESCO eradicated
all foreign plants and
animals from Lord
Howe Island. The
island is now back to
normal
and
undisturbed beauty.
