You seem to be sporting a different hairstyle every time I see you. How many times a month do you actually cut your hair?
I wasn’ t aware that I had different hairstyles. I think my sister, who’ s my go-to, would say something different since she’ s always asking me,“ What are we doing this time?” I do get a lot of haircuts; I like to get haircuts. If it were up to me, it’ d be once a week. Frankly, if I’ m cleaned up, once I’ m fresh, I really can get a good move on things. I can get ahead of the curve, make deals, make transitions, speak well, do all that good stuff. I rely on a lot of things to keep momentum on my side. When you run a gym with so much going on, you’ ve got to be on top of your game. My hair game is definitely up there.
As a rep for this industry, is there a lot of pressure to maintain your physique? How does that effect your workouts?
It’ s been great getting to know the man behind the vision. Whether or not you planned it, BK, you’ re a role model for a whole lot of people. I’ ve got one last question from one of the kids in your Youth Performance program.
How has your experience with so many people changed you?
I would tell that specific somebody that no matter who I meet, no matter how much I get influenced or discouraged by any person, I stay true to myself. I have confidence in myself, and I don’ t try to replicate anyone else. First you need to find yourself. Find your passion and follow it. Be true to yourself. Throughout life, the biggest advantage you have is by always being yourself. You can take bits and pieces of things you hear or learn from other people and use it, but you just have to be you. Be proud of who you are. You will change the world.
Every day I get up and I work out. Four, sometimes five, days a week, and they’ re all planned, scheduled and programmed ahead of time. No, I don’ t feel pressure. It’ s just me. I never sit back and say,‘ this is what we’ ve done.’ I just work. I don’ t feel pressure in this business. I feel pressure when I go outside my game. This game is me. Working out is for me, not for anybody else. It’ s for my spirit and my soul and helps me make money by making proper decisions. This is my game, I know it. I know the leaders in the industry. It’ s one of those things I feel so comfortable in, and it’ s got nothing to do with anybody else.
