Types of groups

A group in society is made up of people who interact together and think of themselves as belonging together. The most important function of groups in a society is to provide their members with a sense of belonging. This allows people to feel connected to one another and helps society.

-->Category: Paople who have a status in common.

-->Primary Groups: Long lasting and emotional connections.

-->Secondary Groups: Weak emotional ties.

-->Reference Group: They act as a reference point from which to evaluate oneself.

-->Ingroups: Members feel loyalty and respect towards one another.

-->Outgroups: Memebers feel competition between them.

-->Dyad: Social group with 2 members.

-->Triad: Social group with three members.

Three types of organizations:

-->Utilitarian: Pays to the efforts.

-->Normative: they are voluntary.

-->Coercive: Forced to join.

-->Group Conformity: Groups have an influence in other’s people actions. Examples:
