Understanding Grief | Page 25

The truth is that God loves you so much that He will see you through these sad and confusing times. Although you may feel abandoned, you are not. God promises to never leave you or abandon you.

Did you know that there is a verse in the Bible that simply says “Jesus wept.” (John 11:35) Jesus understands grief. He experienced grief himself. And He wants to comfort us in our times of grief. We are told to “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7).

Even when you don’t feel like it, you can pray a simple prayer along the lines of, “God, this hurts so much. I don’t understand why I need to go through this. But I ask that you will comfort me and give me peace.”

As you continue to place your burden before God, you will find that you will begin to experience peace…trusting that God loves you and has a good plan for your life and that He will see you through.

“And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:7
