What is Grace? You may hear this word often and think that it is merely what is said before meals but it is so much more than that. Grace most simply can be thought of as:

or in other words, getting what you don’t deserve. As a people who make wrong choices and commit wrong actions we do not deserve to receive God’s free gift of salvation. Yet he gives it to us freely. God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Remember, salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it (Ephesians 2:8-9).

More simply it is like standing before a judge who has a huge list of all the crimes you have committed. As a result of these crimes the punishment is death. However, there is someone in the crowd who says that they will take your punishment of death. You are being given a clean slate to start over. That is getting what you don’t deserve. You never have to earn His love or salvation.
