The author Czeslaw Milosz’s purpose for writing Song of a Citizen was to explain that war never has a bright outcome and it is shown by allusions from the bible and powerful language to create negative tone. Specifically, the poem is about the invasion in Poland. A purpose for the author to write it would be to inform people what can happen when war is occurring. No one thinks about after all the bombs go off and possibly where the citizens are or how they are coping. When understanding the meaning of this poem’s language and allusions, we can clearly know that war should not happen.
