Natural Science Program
Natural Science Major Requirements : BIO 203 / 203L , 204 / 204L ; CHM 151 / 151L , 152 / 152L , 203 / 203L , 204 / 204L ; MTH 234 and 245 plus 7 credits in science electives ( BIO , CHM or PHY ) at level 200 or higher .
Biology Program
Program Admissions Requirements and Procedures Biology students are required to have an SAT score of at least 1080 with a Math score of at least 500 or submit a letter of recommendation from a high school biology teacher . New applicants are to schedule an in-person or virtual admissions interview with the Admissions team .
Biology Major Requirements : BIO 203 / 203L , 204 / 204L , 230 / 230L , 251 / 251L , 402 / 402L , 415 / 415L , 421 ( or BIO 440 ), 4000 , 4001 , 4002 ; plus 6 credits in biology electives at level 300 or higher ; CHM 151 / 151L , 152 / 152L , 203 / 203L , 204 / 204L , 301 / 301L , 302 ; MTH 234 , 245 ; PHY 241 / 241L , 242 / 242L .
All graduates will earn a minor in chemistry . All seniors majoring in biology are required to take the ETS Major Field Test in Biology to be eligible for graduation .

All graduates will earn a minor in chemistry . All seniors majoring in biology are required to take the ETS Major Field Test in Biology to be eligible for graduation .
Experiential Learning A practical research experience is required of every student enrolled in the biology program . This requirement may be satisfied by an on-campus research project or an off-campus internship . Students interested in an off-campus internship must receive approval for the internship from the Biology Program Coordinator . Internships must be research-based and include at least 120 hours of working hours to earn 3 credits . Application should be made to the Program Coordinator as early as possible in the semester prior to the internship . Both on-campus research ( BIO 421 ) and the biology internship ( BIO 440 ) receive 3 credits . Students may complete more than one research experience or internship but may use only one of these to satisfy the requirements of the biology degree .
Minor Requirements A student who is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in another discipline may earn a minor by completing at least six courses ( with co-requisite labs ) for a total of at least 18 semester hours in specified courses .
