PSY-200 Developmental Psychology ( 3 ) Theories , issues and research concerning changes in physical , intellectual , emotional and social development across the life-span are examined and applied to specific social issues . Prerequisites : PSY-100 ( Required , Previous ).
PSY-202 Human Development for Nursing ( 3 ) This course provides an introduction to the theoretical perspectives of human development and fundamental concepts concerning the brain and behavior , memory , motivation and emotion , personality development and social behavior . In addition , it examines changes in cognitive , emotional and social development across the life span and how they are impacted by the social environment . Prerequisites :
PSY-205 Forensic Psychology ( 3 ) This course focuses on the application of psychological theory , concepts and principles to civil and criminal justice systems , with a focus on the practice of forensic psychology . Prerequisites : PSY-100 ( Required , Previous ).
PSY-206 Introduction to Trauma Informed Care ( 3 ) This course is designed to introduce students to the meaning of trauma , the incidence and prevalence of trauma and the effects of trauma on human development . Students will learn what it means to provide client centered care in a trauma informed manner , and will be provided an introduction to evidence based trauma treatments . Active participation of students in this class will include open discussion of material presented as well as practical application of the course material . Self-assessment , awareness and growth are central to the student experience in this course . Prerequisites : PSY-100 or PSY-202 and SOC-100 ( Required , Previous ).
PSY-209 Dementia : Awareness Understanding Bp Cr ( 3 ) This course defines dementia and identifies characteristics of Alzheimer ' s disease and related dementias . In addition , it examines the many different aspects of dementia : assessment and diagnosis , communication and behavior management , and end-of-life care . It also , focuses on best practices for care and provides practical resources for working with individuals with dementia that can be applied to professional careers in the field of geriatrics . Prerequisites : PSY-100 , PSY-200 ( Required , Previous ).
PSY-210 Abnormal Psychology ( 3 ) Study of abnormal personality development and psychopathology ; includes etiology , diagnosis , prognosis and treatment of disorders . Prerequisites : PSY-100 ( Required , Previous ).
