This course expands future healthcare professionals ' knowledge of patient education This is a hybrid course , combines both classroom setting some weeks , with alternating online assignments for other weeks . Students will learn the importance of empowering patients through education to increase patients ' ability and encourage positive behavioral , health-related changes , and stages of changes . In addition , students may have the opportunity to work in interdisciplinary groups to create and evaluate patient education interventions . This course will promote integration of concepts related to education , research , and technology .

NUR-460 Research and Evidence-Based Practice ( 3 )
This course provides an introduction to principles of research and evidenced-based practice in professional nursing practice . Emphasis is placed on the role of evidence-based practice as the basis for clinical decision making . Learning activities provide the student with the opportunity to develop skills necessary to become a competent consumer of research and other sources of evidence , preparing them for the expectations of a new graduate in professional practice .

NUR-490 Community Health Nursing in Ireland ( 3 ) This course explores the healthcare of individuals , families and aggregates in a variety of community settings in Ireland . The concepts of community health nursing and the roles of the professional nurse in the community of Ireland are critically analyzed and compared to the US Public health System . The impact of the health care delivery system of Ireland is presented . Health promotion , health protection and disease prevention are examined . Critical thinking is emphasized in assessing the community of Ireland . A variety of community settings as observational experiences are utilized including home care , hospice , extended care facilities and population focused settings .
Requisite : Main : NUR-208 , NUR-209 , NUR-212 , NUR-213 - Must be completed prior to taking this course . We should NOT have Graduate Level ( MSN and DNP courses ) in the Undergraduate catalog
NUT-200 Principles of Nutrition ( 3 ) A comprehensive course that covers the essentials of optimum nutrition in health and disease . It includes macro-nutrients and energy metabolism ; vitamins and minerals ; nutrition and diet for the client .
