NUR-413 The Older Adult ( 2 or 3 ) This course explores aging and the impact of aging on individuals , families and caregivers . Current theories of aging , the aging process , and the effects of political , social and economic issues on the lifestyles of the aging population will be examined . The influence of heredity , environment , lifestyle and access to adequate healthcare in relation to the care of older adults will be discussed . Requisites : Main : NUR-307 - Must be completed prior to taking this course . Weekend : NUR-319 - Must be completed prior to taking this course . NUR-414 Complementary & Integrative Health ( 3 ) This course will provide a comprehensive and clinical relevant coverage of complementary and alternative medicine . It will cover the history , philosophy , and mechanisms of alternative therapies and includes a thorough review of the clinically controlled trials , indications , and contraindications of each therapy . Requisites : Main : NUR-208 - Must be completed prior to taking this course .
NUR-415 Selected Hlth Problems of Women & Child ( 3 ) Selected health problems and related issues pertaining to women and children will be critically analyzed in relation to the impact on the individual , his / her family and the community . Cultural , spiritual , ethical and moral aspects will be discussed as they influence nursing care . The role of the nurse and community resources available to this population is explored . NUR-417 Genomics in Nursing ( 3 ) This course introduces the concepts and principles of genetics , genomics , and epidgenomic and their relevance to health and nursing care . Genetic influences from conception and throughout the lifespan are considered from a nursing perspective . Ethical , legal , and socioeconomic issues associated with genetics are examined .
