MTH-003 Bridge to Mathematics ( 3 ) An online course designed to elevate students from Math Level 2 to Math Level 3 , in order to prepare students for further courses requiring quantitative skills . Students proceed through the material at their own pace , seeking guidance from the instructor when needed . Topics include a review of numbers and operations , ratios and percents , logic , geometry , data analysis , and algebra . Prerequisites : Math Level 2
MTH-103 Fundamentals of Mathematics I ( 3 ) A survey of introductory college mathematics . Topics include sets and logic , the structure of number systems , number theory , algebraic equations and inequalities , problem solving , and mathematical systems . Prerequisites : Math Level 3
MTH-104 Fundamentals of Mathematics II ( 3 ) A continuation of MTH 103 . Topics include linear equations and inequalities , quadratics with applications , relations and functions , graphing , geometry , counting techniques , probability , and statistics . MTH-136 Topics of Mathematics ( 3 ) An exploration of a selection of contemporary applications of mathematics , including topics such as scheduling , optimizing routes using graph theory , identification numbers , voting , and optimizing profit through linear programming . Emphasis is on problem solving and real-world applications . Prerequisites : Math Level 3
MTH-141 Elementary Mathematical Models ( 3 ) An introduction to modeling real-world situations using mathematical functions . Topics include linear and exponential modeling techniques , logistic models , solving and simplifying equations using algebra , graphing , regression , and rates of change . Prerequisites : Math Level 4 or MTH103 or MTH104 or MTH136
MTH-142 Elementary Functions ( 3 ) A precalculus course designed to prepare students to take MTH245 . Topics include polynomial , rational , algebraic , exponential , logarithmic , and trigonometric functions and their applications . Prerequisites : Math Level 4 or MTH103 or MTH104 or MTH136
MTH-231 Discrete Mathematics ( 3 ) A study of discrete structures with applications . Topics include formal logic , sets , functions , sequences , growth of functions , complexity of algorithms , applications of number theory , mathematical induction , recursion , counting techniques , relations , graph theory , and trees .
