ENG-203 Introduction to Poetry ( 3 ) Students read , discuss and write about traditional and modern poems . They learn the rudiments of poetry and refine critical thinking and writing skills by analyzing and interpreting poems . This course benefits future English teachers , creative writers and those who love literature . Prerequisites : ENG-101 ( Required , Previous ).
ENG-210 Introduction to the Theater ( 3 ) This course surveys important historical periods of theater from Greeks to present ; examination of representative dramas from each period . Prerequisites : ENG-101 ( Required , Previous ).
ENG-212 Women Authors ( 3 ) This courses surveys the problems of women as writers and writers as women . Prerequisites : ENG-101 ( Required , Previous ).
ENG-215 Technical Writing ( 3 ) Designed as a process that is adaptable to all professions or crafts , the technical writing course reviews and reinforces the tools of writing . Prerequisites : ENG-101 ( Required , Previous ).
ENG-216 American Literature I ( 3 ) This course concentrates on major figures in America ' s literature from the Colonial Period through the Age of Transcendentalism . Prerequisites : ENG-101 ( Required , Previous ).
ENG-217 American Literature II ( 3 ) Beginning with writers of the nineteenth center , American Literature II surveys major figures from realism and naturalism through modernism and post-modern writing . Prerequisites : ENG-101 ( Required , Previous ).
ENG-218 Multicultural Literature ( 3 ) Treating the literature of ethnic groups such as European immigrants and people of color , this course may be a historical survey or a thematic exploration of issues and may focus on one or more groups .
ENG-230 History of the English Language ( 3 ) This course surveys origins of the development of the English language from the Proto-Indo- Europeans of Central Europe through the development of the Danish , Saxon and Germanic tribes to the presentday status of the English language . Prerequisites : ENG-101 ( Required , Previous ).
ENG-240 History of Rhetoric ( 3 ) This course explores classical texts , as well as their influence on contemporary principles and philosophical perspectives and the production of written , oral , visual , and digital texts today .
