If you don ’ t have a traditional academic background , you can demonstrate talent and potential through routes other than A levels and BTECs . Our Admissions Team can advise you on pathways to higher education .
Mature students
If you ’ re over 21 and don ’ t have formal qualifications , don ’ t worry . We still consider people who have relevant work and life experience and , most importantly , enthusiasm and potential . ALTERNATIVE COURSES
Foundation degrees
Foundation degrees ( FdA ) are higher education qualifications designed in consultation with employers . They ’ ve been developed to give you a broad range of professional skills and expertise , improve your career opportunities and boost your earning potential . They allow flexible methods of study , varying from two years full time , to three or four years part time . We offer Foundation degrees in Early Years Care and Education , and Learning Support , hosted at our partner colleges .

Top-up courses
If you ’ ve already done some study at higher education level , our top-up courses allow you to gain a full-honours degree in just one or two years . You might have completed a HND or a Foundation degree , or done one or two years of study at another university .

DEGREE APPRENTICESHIPS
Degree apprenticeships mix our excellent academic teaching with consistent on-the-job training . So you ’ ll finish your apprenticeship already equipped with the knowledge , skills and experience you need for your chosen career .
How it works
You ’ ll need to be recruited by an employer as a degree apprentice or a current employee seeking professional development .
Degree apprenticeships take between one and five years to complete , depending on the course you take , your existing qualification and experience level .
You may go to university one day a week ( for around 30 weeks every year ) and work with your employer on the other four , but there are alternative delivery options .
International students
To be eligible to study for a degree apprenticeship , students are required to have been an EEA resident for the last three years , have a relevant visa and be in employment in the UK .
Degree apprenticeship fees
Degree apprentices do not pay their own tuition fees . The Government and / or your employer pay your university fees .
