At Portsmouth , we offer a unique alternative to the traditional sandwich degree : Connected Degrees . Nearly all of our courses let you choose when you want to do your optional placement year . Either at the traditional time , between your second and third year of study . Or after your final year of study , connecting you directly with industry as you ’ re starting your career .

Where can I study a Connected Degree ?

Only at the University of Portsmouth . Other universities only offer 3rd year placements .

If you ’ d rather be your own boss , you can opt to do a selfemployed placement year as part of your Connected Degree . With expert support from our Student StartUp Team , you can :

• Set up your own business or social enterprise from scratch

• Develop an existing side hustle and go full time for a year

• Start your own freelance practice , working for different clients
