The team at our Student Finance Centre want to help you . Their advice is tailored to your circumstances . You can talk to them long before you start your course . Here are just a few things they ’ re able to advise you on :
• Funding opportunities and how to apply for student finance
• How to budget and manage your money to make the most of it
• Benefits you might be entitled to claim
We want to break down barriers that might stop you having a great university experience . Whatever your circumstances – for example , if you have a disability , are estranged from your parents , are leaving care or are a young carer – we can offer extra financial and practical help , advice and guidance .

STUDENT FINANCE
The Government always provides support to students to help cover the costs of studying at university . What this looks like has changed over the years , but you can always be confident that financial help will be available .
Right now , this means loans that cover your tuition fees and help with living costs . You repay these through your salary after graduation , but only when your annual income rises above a certain amount . There is also currently additional support for students with disabilities and students with children .

WHAT IF I AM A EUROPEAN OR INTERNATIONAL STUDENT ?

For any of our students who will struggle to get by , we have set aside a generous University of Portsmouth Support Fund . That means we can provide additional financial help to those who need it most .
You will need to take care of your money as a student – but at Portsmouth , you can rest assured we will also take care of you .

FOR CARE LEAVERS
To support 16-24 year-olds who are leaving care and want to go to university , we ' ve signed up to the Care Leaver Covenant . We ' ve put together a package of support to help you overcome financial and personal challenges , so you can focus on being a student . You can receive a bursary of £ 1,700 , a guaranteed place to live in halls all year round , and a personal support finance adviser . To find out more , visit port . ac . uk / careleavers .
