mineral
nanotechnology
oil and gas
manufacturing
petrochemical
mining
computing
electronics
food
pharmaceutical.
Many everyday items involve chemical engineering
during some stage of their production – computer
chips, mobile phones, food, petrol, paper, aspirin,
coffee, pharmaceuticals, solar cells, to name just
a few. As a chemical engineer, you’ll invent,
develop, design and improve processes that
convert raw materials into useful products, with
minimal environmental impact. Whether you focus
on developing future energy solutions, controlling
pollution or protecting our environment, your
future as a chemical engineer is bright.
LEVEL THREE (48 points)
Core units
You must complete the following six core units:
• Chemistry and chemical thermodynamics
• Process control
• Reaction engineering
• Separation processes
• Process design
• Transport phenomena and numerical methods.
Elective units
Select any two of the recommended units below.
Please check the prerequisites in the University
Handbook before enrolling.
At Monash, practical work is an essential part of
many units, and management studies are
introduced to provide you with adequate knowledge
on how to manage projects. You’ll also have the
opportunity to integrate industrial experience or
time at a university abroad with your studies. •
